How to have the best in home newborn photography session
I have several recommendations for the best in home newborn photography session. Here they are:
Keep an eye on the natural light in your home the week leading up to your session. I often suggest that my clients are looking at the rooms they want photographs in and keeping track of the time of day when there is the best natural light. This helps us schedule your session around that so you can have the best lighting in your photos.
Wear neutrals/light colors. These help act as natural reflectors which help with your skin tones and the light during your session. As your photographer I always wear a neutral white top to these sessions so I am also reflecting light back at my clients to get the best naturally lit photos.
Don't worry about cleaning. You just had a baby... just relax and if we need to move things around for your session I'm happy to help lend a helping hand. I've seen it all, and I'm a mom too so I totally understand the natural "mess" that happens when there's a newborn in the house.
Don't stress about your new babe needing to eat, or diaper changes, etc. If you are stressed, they can feel that and it makes everything harder for everyone. We can take breaks to soothe baby, feed baby, etc. Sometimes these things also make for cute in-the-moment photos.
